About me
My approach to shipping games
I’m Kevin Ahlgren Bjorvand, an indie game developer focused on one thing above all else: actually finishing games. I started like most people, excited about game development, bouncing between engines, tutorials, and ideas, but rarely shipping anything real. Over time, I realized that motivation, talent, and tools were not the real bottleneck. The real problem was a lack of structure and clear direction.
My work today is shaped by that realization. I build games myself while documenting the process of turning vague ideas into finished, playable projects. I care less about perfect code, flashy graphics, or massive scope, and more about momentum, clarity, and learning by doing. Shipping something small teaches you more than months of passive learning, and that belief is baked into everything I create.
Smart Indie exists because I got tired of seeing beginner developers stuck in the same loop I was in. Endless tutorials, constant restarting, and the feeling of never being ready. My approach to game development is practical and grounded. Build early, struggle on purpose, reflect, and iterate. That is how real skills are formed, and it is how confidence is earned.
Outside of game development, I’m obsessed with systems, efficiency, and understanding how people actually learn complex skills. I prefer simple frameworks over motivation hacks, and real output over theory. If you’re here, my assumption is that you do not just want to learn game development. You want to become the kind of developer who finishes what they start.
